Underserved Community Medicine

Longitudinal | Global Health, Selective

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international non-profit organization dedicated to serving the poor and providing others with the opportunity to serve. This experience will expose the student to the various cultural, environmental and socio-economic factors that impact health status, access to needed services and the delivery of care.

University of Notre Dame Australia

Research experience at the University of Notre Dame Australia for a minimum of 4 weeks, with potential for longer if approved by both institutions

Urology

3-8 weeks | Selective

Students participate in morning and afternoon rounds with the urology resident and consultant. Students spend half their time in the urologic clinic learning about the office practice of urology; the other half of their time is spent in the operating room.

Urology

The urological & surgical service is a combined clinic- and hospital-based adult comprehensive surgical service within St. Luke's Hospital. Students are exposed to the complete range of adult urologic problems, from Genito-urinary malignancy to the urological evaluation of incontinence. Students learn about urologic surgery, assist with clinical urology, review urological imaging studies, and examine pathological tissues removed at the time of surgery.

Urology

1-2 weeks, 3-8 weeks | Selective

Exposure to urologic oncology, incontinence and voiding dysfunction, Endourology and stone disease, female and male reconstructive urology will comprise most of the exposure. The rotation serves as much to educate the students about the field of urology as it does to educate on a potential career in Urology. The rotation is highly interactive and designed to get the students involved with all department members, including didactic conferences.

This selective experience will offer students the opportunity to witness and participate in the care of patients with urologic disorders and the practice of urology.

Join the Urology team and participate in the care of patients with urologic disorders and the practice of urology in the inpatient, outpatient and operating room settings, as well as attend all urological conferences (Pyelogram, Grand Rounds, Stone conference, and Resident Thursday conference).

The Virology and Gene Therapy Master’s Degree through the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Science emphasizes the application of new technologies to discover and diffuse advanced biomedical therapies that will diagnose, treat, and cure increasingly complex population health issues.
