Clinical training

During the program, you will acquire skills in patient diagnosis and management, procedural techniques, teaching, and research.

Rotation schedule

Below is a typical rotation schedule:

Inpatient transplant hepatology and liver service 4 months
Outpatient liver transplant clinic 4 months
Outpatient hepatology clinic 2 months
Transplant hepatology and liver research 2 months
Transplant infectious disease 1 week
Transplant nephrology 1 week
Transplant surgery 1 week
Rochester, Minnesota 1 month
Weekly continuity clinic 12 months

Didactic training

Clinical conferences (including hepatocellular carcinoma and tumor, pathology, case conference, core curriculum, transplant selection, and patient management), seminars, small discussion groups, journal clubs, and one-on-one instruction are all integral parts of the program.

Research training

As a Transplant Hepatology fellow, you will participate in clinical research projects with dozens of potential projects from which to choose. Our staff hepatologists and hepatobiliary surgeons are actively involved in research and welcome participation from fellows. You will be given the opportunity to present your research at various national conferences.
