Quality improvement and research training
You reserve eight weeks for dedicated quality improvement and clinical research time. You complete at least one quality improvement project and one research project.
Participation in the Mayo quality fellows program allows you to obtain a bronze certification in safety and quality improvement through Mayo Clinic Quality Academy. In addition, you can take the silver certification class and examination.
Unique research opportunities include those offered by Mayo Clinic's Center for Clinical and Translational Science.
Core curriculum
The comprehensive curriculum covers important aspects and processes of inpatient medical care, based on recommendations of the Society of Hospital Medicine. These topics are covered in weekly lectures by hospital medicine faculty and other Mayo faculty.
Evaluation
To ensure you acquire adequate knowledge and develop technical skills, performance is monitored carefully during the course of training. You're evaluated by a supervising faculty member after each clinical rotation. In addition, you will regularly evaluate faculty to ensure that your educational needs are being met.
