At Mayo Clinic in Arizona, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in an authentic and transformative experience. Whether you're a medical student, resident, fellow, or allied health student, there are countless ways to engage in intentional activities that extend beyond education, leaving a lasting mark on both your professional and personal growth. With over 260 graduate medical education residents and fellows, 210 medical students, and 270 allied health students (2022-2023 academic year), you’ll be part of a diverse and vibrant learning community.

Student groups

Student groups on campus are student-led and supported by faculty members and staff. Everyone is welcome — and there is no shortage of variety. Find groups related to professional associations, special interests, or social activities.

Simulation-based Learning

At Mayo Clinic in Arizona, numerous opportunities for hands-on learning are available in state-of-the-art environments.
The Multidisciplinary Simulation Center offers courses, in-situ trainings, individual sessions, research studies, and interactive tours across over 25 departments. The Simulation Exam Suites host clinical examination and patient scenario simulations for medical and clinical learners.
The Ayarza Laparoscopic Skills Lab, open 24/7, provides advanced surgical simulators and task trainers for suturing, cautery, and knot tying. Featured simulators include the Surgical Science Lap Mentor, Pelvic Mentor, Gastroenterology/Bronchoscopy simulator, Mentice VIST Interventional simulator, and VirtaMed ArthoS/LaproS.
The Center for Procedural Innovation is a bioskills lab for procedural simulations using donors (cadavers) and anatomical models. The Gross Anatomy Lab supports hands-on anatomy and dissection training.
Our facilities also feature emerging technologies like a FormLabs 3D Printer, MedCreator 3D scanner, Sectra Digital Anatomy Table, Meta Quest VR Headsets, and extended reality simulators to enhance clinical training.
