Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education (MCSGME) provides orientation for more than 400 incoming residents and fellows each year.
Business formal: Suit or sport coat, skirt or dress pants, button-down/up collared shirt and tie, dress, blouse or sweater. Casual clothing or fabric, such as denim is not permitted.
Three sessions scheduled for 2024
Session 1 — June 17, 2024: This session is for trainees in anatomic and clinical pathology, anesthesiology (PGY1), dental specialties, emergency medicine, family medicine (Rochester, MN; Eau Claire, WI; La Crosse, WI; and Mankato, MN-PGY1), general surgery, internal medicine, neurologic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, pediatric and adolescent medicine, plastic surgery-integrated, preliminary internal medicine, preliminary surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, urology, and vascular surgery-integrated.
Session 2 — July 1, 2024: This session is for trainees in anesthesiology (PGY2+), dermatology, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, radiation oncology and radiology, thoracic surgery, and fellowship programs with July 1 start dates.
Session 3 — July 23, 2024: This session is for fellows with an Aug. 1 start date, including those in abdominal transplantation, breast oncology, colon and rectal surgery, comprehensive endocrine surgery, hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, minimally invasive surgery, obstetrics and gynecology fellowships (female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery; gynecologic oncology; maternal fetal medicine; minimally invasive gynecologic surgery; obstetrics hospitalist; reproductive endocrinology and infertility), orthopedic surgery fellowships (adult reconstruction-lower, adult reconstruction-upper, hand surgery, musculoskeletal oncology, orthopedics-sports medicine, spine fellowship-orthopedics), surgical critical care and other off-cycle trainees.
- Pediatric fellowships and ophthalmology fellowships will start and complete orientation with the program July 8, 2024.
