Alumni

Internal medicine residents in the lab.

Each year, residents meet with program directors to discuss strategies and opportunities for achieving career goals after residency. Potential options include staff positions and fellowships within Mayo Clinic and among competitive programs nationwide.

Two residents are selected to serve a fourth year as chief medical residents.

The Internal Medicine Residency first obtained accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in 1994. We have full, continued ACGME accreditation with commendation as of January 2018.

Our graduates go on to take the American Board of Internal Medicine examination with a 100% pass rate since 2019.

“Mayo Clinic AZ IM residency was an amazing experience that shaped who I am today.  The medical/social complexity of my patients taught me so much. The mentorship at Mayo is fantastic. As a resident, I felt comfortable reaching out to faculty for help whether it was clinical practice, research, or my career. I am still in touch with my mentor from Mayo, and I continue to seek out career advice. Through mentorship at Mayo, I honed my interest in women’s health and have since completed research in this field.
