Alumni

The most important indicator of the success of a training program is found in the outcomes of the graduates upon completion of their training.

Graduates of our Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency are highly competitive and sought after for both fellowship and job opportunities. We currently have about a 50:50 mix of graduates from our program who are working in academic versus community practice positions, which is further testament to our balanced and flexible curriculum.

Is there anything that surprised you about Rochester, Minnesota?

Rochester is such a pleasant blend of world-class medicine and a small-town environment. Life is simple; I walk to work, and believe it or not, I don’t miss being stuck in traffic. My wife and I are able to own a house, find a great work-life balance, and are able to enjoy more metropolitan activities in the nearby Twin Cities almost weekly. It’s pretty special to see a one-in-a-million diagnosis on a daily basis and always see a friend or colleague when out in the community.

Dr. Larson is on Mayo Clinic staff in the Department of Hematopathology.

How did you come to decide to pursue pathology as a career?

I came to Mayo Clinic in 2015 as a research trainee in the division of hematology. It was during this time when I collaborated with the department of pathology on various research projects, I realized my true calling lies in pathology. Analyzing the morphology, correlating the clinical information, labs, and ancillary studies such as immunostains and genetics is a thrilling experience and instilled the passion to pursue pathology as my career.

Dr. Ravindran completed her Hematopathology Fellowship in June 2022 and is a faculty member at the University of Alabama.
