Application Process
Positions
Up to six students will be accepted into the Mayo Clinic cohort at the University of Minnesota Nurse-Midwifery program each year.
Admission requirements
Prerequisites
Eligible students will hold a valid, unencumbered nursing license in Minnesota and Wisconsin to allow for completion of their clinical practicum courses at all Mayo Clinic locations in the Midwest.
Qualified candidates typically possess these general characteristics:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Compassion and dedication to serving childbearing people and their families
- Desire to provide culturally sensitive, culturally responsible, equitable, and integrative care to people of all ages

Applicants with a complete application by Jan. 2, 2024 will move forward with consideration and can anticipate notification of admission decision in early March. Applicants with a complete application between Jan. 3, 2024 and March 1, 2024 can anticipate notification of admission decision in late April.
Application instructions
Our affiliate school, the University of Minnesota, will process the applications for the Doctor of Nursing Practice Nurse-Midwifery program. Complete the application through the University of Minnesota.
The applicant should indicate that they are interested in the Mayo Clinic cohort as part of their application through the University of Minnesota.
Interview process
Applicants considered for acceptance will be invited for a virtual interview with the University of Minnesota program director, Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences nurse-midwifery program director, and selected faculty.
Acceptance
You will be notified of acceptance via email and your reply is expected within 30 days.
